What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a hands-on, evidence-informed approach to treating pain, movement dysfunction, and physical limitations. At McInnes Physiotherapy, we assess how your body moves and functions, then use techniques like manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education to help you recover, move better, and stay active.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is needed to book an appointment. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a physician’s referral for reimbursement. Contact your provider for specific details.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including joint and muscle pain, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, osteoarthritis, TMJ dysfunction, running injuries, and more. Visit our Areas of Treatment page to learn more.
How long are appointments?
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your health card (if applicable), insurance information, comfortable clothing for movement, and any referral documents or imaging (if available). Shorts and a tank top/sports bra are ideal for certain assessments.
Can I book online?
Yes! You can book anytime using our online booking platform, or call our front desk at 306‑931‑2858.
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes, we offer direct billing to most major insurance providers. Please bring your policy information to your first visit.
Is physiotherapy covered by health insurance?
Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy. Coverage varies by provider, so check your plan for specific details on visit limits or referral requirements.
Do you accept WCB or SGI claims?
Yes. We are a registered provider with the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) and Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI). If your injury is work- or motor vehicle–related, we can guide you through the claim process.
What is dry needling and is it safe?
Dry needling involves inserting a fine, sterile needle into muscle trigger points to reduce pain and improve movement. It is only performed by physiotherapists certified and authorized by the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists. We assess suitability before including it in any treatment plan.
Do you offer joint manipulation?
Yes, joint manipulation is provided by physiotherapists who hold the FCAMPT designation. This technique is used selectively after thorough screening to help restore joint mobility and relieve pain.
What is the BREATHE STRONG COPD program?
BREATHE STRONG is an 8-week physiotherapy-led program for individuals with COPD. It includes supervised exercise, hands-on treatment, and education to improve breathing efficiency and physical capacity. Learn more here.
What is sport-specific screening?
Our sport screening uses tools like VALD force plates and dynamometers to assess strength, power, and movement control. It helps identify injury risks and guides performance-focused training for athletes in sports like hockey, baseball, and running. Learn more here.
